Love Story in Shanghai / Symphony of Rain / Xiang Wu, Xiang Yu, You Xiang Feng, 2000

^ Zhou Xun was so young and cute back then!

This drama first aired when I was in elementary school. I could still remember how popular it was, friends and classmates talked about it all day.

In fact this is not the kind of drama that I usually love — the love and relationship in this drama were too complicated. But the 4 leading actors and 4 leading actresses were so pretty and the Qipao they wore were amazing! I can’t help falling in love with it! The smartness of this drama is that it’s always in a gloomy atmosphere. The ending was too sad. Almost everyone died. 😦

Tribute to Varioius versions of Qiao Feng and A’zhu in Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils — by JoleCole’s station

After digging into Wallace Chung’s latest adaptation of Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils, I became nostalgic of the older versions. Demi-Gods and Semi-Devils is filled with a multitude of colorful characters and many story arcs. The story is a bit too complicated to summarize in a few words for those who aren’t familiar with this classic Louis Cha’s wuxia novel (Louis Cha is also known as Jin Yong 金庸). Like many others, I inadvertently learned a lot of my Song Dynasty foreign relations history from watching Louis Cha’s wuxia dramas. LOL.

WOW! I love Qiao Feng & A Zhu together so much! Especially the 2003 version. It broke my heart. Q_Q

Dai Yu Zhuan / Legend of Dai Yu, 2009

↑ I’m on the sistership! >///<

This drama was an adaption of the book Dream of the Red Chamber. It came out when I was raging because of the stupid 2010 version. I love the book Dream of the Red Chamber and the 1987 adaption so much. Anything that makes fun of them will craze me. I nearly had an heart attack watching 2010 version, and was too angry to sleep. I even swore that I would never watch any Dream of the Red Chamber adaption anymore! Yet I’ve gone back on my words… Sorry Laotse, sorry Buddha. 😛

Now I have an open mind(thanks to Three Kingdoms, 2010 ), so I decided to take this one out from the “cold palace” and try to find some strong points.XD

Wang Zhao Jun, 1987

There are many dramas telling the story of Wang Zhao Jun but I never find one really attractive… This one had only 10 eps so can’t tell a long story. Quite boring in fact. (You can read the story of Wang Zhao Jun on wiki.)

In this drama the character of WZJ was very twisted. She was unwilling when forced to enter the palace. When having her picture drawn, she refused to bribe the painter. When the Emperor didn’t want her to be a consort because her picture was ugly, she started crying and it freaked me out since her face was all convulsed, half laughing half crying. When snubbed by the Emperor and bullied by other consorts, she acted really noble and decent as if she didn’t care for money or status. But when the Xiongnu tribe came to ask for a political marriage, she wrote a poem expressing her willingness to go there.

The Legend of Zhen Huan: Eps 64-66

I’ve got an explanation: Ling Rong loved ZH too much and wanted ZH to love her back. But ZH gave her affections to Mei Zhuang so Ling Rong wanted MZ to die. 😛

The link above is very nice! I love the amber nail guard most~~
Actually Qing Dynasty ladies do wear long nails on the 4th & 5th fingers. Sometimes as long as 2 inches. So nail guards are pretty useful.

I am always curious about the beautiful jewelry and fashion that are in the ancient Chinese dramas.  The Legend of Zhen Huan is full of beautiful details, and the fingernail guards are no exception!

Pretty Girls in Pretty Ancient Clothes — by dramafilledworld

So I was reading a post on beauties in ancient clothing so of course first thing that comes to mind is the famous Mei Ren Xin Ji also known as Schemes of A Beauty. So I will start this thing where I will post posts on pretty people. Sounds good enough.

— Check out the rest here:

Part I: Schemes Of A Beauty

Part II: White Vengeance

Part III: Battle of Red

Part IV: Annie Yi in The Assassins

Part V: Liu Yi Fei in The Assassins

Amazing pics!!! I love this hairstyle of ZH most too! It is called a Dian Zi(钿子). Kinda like a hat, not made of real hair. Only empress and concubines of higher ranks could wear them.

When MZ was getting back with the Emperor, I love a scene that MZ put the silk handkerchief onto her hand before the Emperor put her jade bangle back on. The silk handkerchief was smooth, in this way the bangle wouldn’t hurt her hand. This is really so elegant and moderate for a lady.

I’m with you. I love the mother-daughter relationship in this drama very much. I felt sad for Jing Fei and Cao Gui Ren and can’t blame them for what they’ve done. ((((

Wait for the huge storm!! HAHAHAHA
