Jane Eyre, 2006 BBC

It is said the heroine was a newcomer. She kinda look weird(which is OK ’cause you don’t need to look pretty to be Jane Eyre), but acted really good. The hero was sooooo cute! I wanna bite him. 😛 The part that Mr. Rochester proposed was great! I cried. T_T

The whole drama was in a dark atmosphere. I can hardly see anything. I haven’t watched Wuthering Heights yet but I guess it’s going to be darker than Jane Eyre. @@

As a kid I loved Jane Eyre better than Pride & Prejudice. Didn’t remember from what time did I start to prefer Pride & Prejudice more. Maybe because Jane Eyre was filled with challenges to the world while Pride & Prejudice was filled with compromises. Sad but true.

The link above is very nice! I love the amber nail guard most~~
Actually Qing Dynasty ladies do wear long nails on the 4th & 5th fingers. Sometimes as long as 2 inches. So nail guards are pretty useful.

I am always curious about the beautiful jewelry and fashion that are in the ancient Chinese dramas.  The Legend of Zhen Huan is full of beautiful details, and the fingernail guards are no exception!

downton-abbey-season-3-premiere-mary-matthew-weddingDownton Abbey and the Crawley family may have weathered the turmoil and tragedy of the first world war, but they have not escaped unscathed. Society is changing — slowly but inevitably — and the privilege and prestige once enjoyed by the upper class is gradually starting to erode. It is the beginning of the Roaring Twenties, and the British aristocracy’s lifestyle of lavish parties, servants, and finery may be coming to an end.

The third season of the popular British TV series promises to bring plenty of challenges for the characters that viewers on both sides of the “pond” have fallen in love with. The series follows the rich Earl and Countess of Grantham (Robert and Cora Crawley) and their daughters (Mary, Edith, and Sybil), who occupy an elaborate estate in England called Downton Abbey. The show highlights both the “upstairs” and “downstairs” residents of the abbey, incorporating storylines about…

I hate that characters have to die in the drama because actors left. 😦

For generations, Downton Abbey has been standing proudly on the Grantham estate in the picturesque English countryside, the mansion seemingly untouched by the passage of time. But take a peek inside the windows of the towering abbey, and you’ll see just how much the Crawley family has been impacted by change since we were first introduced to them in season one of the now wildly popular British period drama.

The wealthy Crawleys have had to face dramatic changes in society as they head into the 1920s: from rapidly developing technology, to economic uncertainty, to a shifting social structure. And they’ve also had to face personal tragedies, including some unexpected losses and painful goodbyes.

The third season of “Downton Abbey” finished airing last night on PBS, and to say that it was a shocker would be a little…

Pride & Prejudice, 1980 BBC

I am a BIG P&P fan. I love the book and the 1995 BBC mini series so much that I can’t tell how many times I’ve read and watched them. 😀

This 1980 BBC mini series was 80% good if Elizabeth did not show happiness after Mr. Darcy’s first proposal. Now it’s only 60%. After the first time Mr. Darcy proposed and left, Elisabeth was thinking sweetly: “But in love with me for so many months? So much in love as to wish to marry me? … It is incredible! And quite gratifying.” WTF is this??!!!! This is definitely not Elizabeth Bennet!

Pretty Girls in Pretty Ancient Clothes — by dramafilledworld

So I was reading a post on beauties in ancient clothing so of course first thing that comes to mind is the famous Mei Ren Xin Ji also known as Schemes of A Beauty. So I will start this thing where I will post posts on pretty people. Sounds good enough.

— Check out the rest here:

Part I: Schemes Of A Beauty

Part II: White Vengeance

Part III: Battle of Red

Part IV: Annie Yi in The Assassins

Part V: Liu Yi Fei in The Assassins

Amazing pics!!! I love this hairstyle of ZH most too! It is called a Dian Zi(钿子). Kinda like a hat, not made of real hair. Only empress and concubines of higher ranks could wear them.

When MZ was getting back with the Emperor, I love a scene that MZ put the silk handkerchief onto her hand before the Emperor put her jade bangle back on. The silk handkerchief was smooth, in this way the bangle wouldn’t hurt her hand. This is really so elegant and moderate for a lady.

I’m with you. I love the mother-daughter relationship in this drama very much. I felt sad for Jing Fei and Cao Gui Ren and can’t blame them for what they’ve done. ((((

Wait for the huge storm!! HAHAHAHA
